Renewable World Partner wins BBC World News Award

The Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation (AIDFI) has won an award voted for by BBC World viewers for their ram pump design which is being used in a Renewable World technology transfer project with the Centre for Rural Technology (CRT) in Nepal.

The project entitled, ‘the only way is up’ was chosen as a winner from over 800 entries from 70 countries in the BBC World Challenge 2010, which is aimed at finding projects or small businesses around the world that have shown enterprise and innovation at the grass roots level.

More than 167,000 people voted for the ram pump as their favourite technology after watching a 10 minute film on each of the 12 finalists aired on the BBC World News. AIDFI received $20,000 from competition sponsor Shell to further their work.
