Renewable World is actively seeking to partner with like-minded businesses, who share our commitment to tackling energy poverty, promoting sustainable development, and protecting the environment. By working together, we can deliver extraordinary transformational change.
For examples of our current corporate partners, take a look at our Corporate Supporters page.
Achieving our partner’s Corporate Social Responsibility
With the increasing value placed on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by customers and employees, good CSR is a key element for businesses in a competitive environment. Supporting Renewable World is a unique way of demonstrating that your company is serious about promoting sustainability, helping poor communities, and changing the lives of people who are most affected by climate change.
“At Renewable World, we are proud to be supported by a wide range of corporate partners, including those working in or with the renewable energy industry in the UK and in Europe. Their support is invaluable to us, and allows us to make a tremendous difference to people’s lives.
Through CSR, we have found that our partner companies benefit too, so it really is a win-win; for your team, for Renewable World, and most important of all, for the people that we help access clean, renewable energy.”
– Marie Hounslow, Fundraising Manager
Staff participation and employee engagement
As a small, but ambitious team, we are always looking to our corporate partners for support with our work, be it technical, financial, legal, or marketing. We value what you can offer us through providing your time and expertise, and we have a number of pro-bono works packages for those who are interested.
Give As You Earn (or Payroll Giving) is the most popular way for UK businesses and their employees to donate via their payroll. It provides a simple way for you to help us deliver power, improve health, and income in the developing world. The scheme allows you as an individual to donate to Renewable World straight from your gross salary – before tax is deducted – and receive immediate tax relief of up to £4.50 for every £10 donated – meaning you can give more, for less. It is quick and easy for companies to set up and administer, and by encouraging employees to sign up for payroll businesses can demonstrate their commitment CSR and to the causes their employees care about.
Taking part in a challenge event for Renewable World is a great way to build team spirit and create a real sense of pride and achievement. Events such as the Siemens Challenge and Tough Mudder are renowned for this, as well as offering opportunities for the company’s publicity and enhancing their corporate image.
We have places available in a wide range of popular challenge events, including a variety of marathons and triathlons.
If you are interested in participating in a challenge event on behalf of Renewable World, or if you have your own ideas about how to fundraise to support our work, you can email or call: 01273 234 801.
Earth Wind & Tyre
Earth Wind & Tyre is our annual two-day cycle challenge from Durham to Edinburgh, which takes place in June each year. At our most recent event, 50 riders from 10 renewable energy companies participated in the epic 200-mile cycle. In celebration of clean energy, the route passes by 10 iconic windfarms as it winds its way up from Durham to Edinburgh. Riders are treated to magnificent countryside, a night in the beautiful Kielder Forest and a relaxing stop at Floors Castle before finishing on the historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
In its first year, in 2015, the event raised an incredible £55,000 thanks to the fundraising efforts of the 47 participants and generous corporate sponsorship from 7 companies including Vestas, EDF-ER and RES.
The ride offers the perfect team-building and networking experience, as well as the opportunity for companies to advertise their work. We are now actively seeking both sponsors and riders for next year’s event, which is set to take place on the weekend of 10-11th June 2017.
You can register your interest by emailing us here or calling on 01273 234 801.
“A brilliant ride – I’ll come back fitter for next years!”
“I had a blast doing this event with colleagues and business partners”
“EWT is a fantastic event, well organised, and in beautiful countryside”
“Extremely challenging, but equally rewarding on completion”
Morale, recruitment incentive, and employee retention
Studies published in the Business Intelligence Journal show that employees who are satisfied with the organisation’s commitment to social and environmental responsibilities demonstrate more commitment, engagement, and productivity. A January 2014 publication in the International Journal of Business and Behavioural Sciences recommends that “corporations should incorporate CSR into their strategic decision making process in order to build good reputation and motivate employees for better performance and retention.”
In 2012, a Society for Human Resource Management study found that companies with strong CSR had 58% better morale, 43% more efficient business processes, 43% stronger public image, and 38% better employee loyalty, than those companies lacking strong CSR.
Presentations and Christmas e-cards
Renewable World would be delighted to visit your offices and speak with members of staff about the difference that their support is making. Lunchtime presentations, Q&A sessions, and social events keep members of staff engaged and allow us to thank our supporters directly.
Over the festive season we offer the chance to purchase renewable energy themed Christmas e-cards that can be sent to staff and/or customers. Sending one of these cards is a great way to support Renewable World and communicate with stakeholders during the season of giving. It is more environmentally friendly than using paper cards and the money you donate helps to light homes, power businesses, and improve lives in some of the most remote communities in the world.
As well as benefiting from the Renewable World brand, by becoming a partner you would have your logo and company engagement story featured across our various platforms. 3,300+ Twitter followers, 1,800+ Facebook likes, 880+ LinkedIn followers, 5,000+ newsletter recipients, 10,000+ monthly website views.
“We are extremely proud to be able to support Renewable World. The values of Renewable World are ones that we felt really reflected those of the Yellowave community – supporting others to empower themselves, providing a hand up rather than a hand out. We hope our small contribution can make a difference even if it’s just a tiny ripple in the great wave of work the charity is doing”
– Kate Mintram, Director, Yellowave
Field testing and expansion
For those companies associated with the manufacture and distribution of renewable energy technology, there is also the potential to use your products in the field as an element of our projects. Institutional funders such as DfID (UK), USAID (USA), SIDA (Sweden), and Danida (Denmark) encourage collaboration between private companies and NGOs, and make calls for project proposals on an annual basis.
Achieving your CSR
Demonstrating that companies are ethical is now part of the corporate landscape and Renewable World is well placed to help our partners develop and achieve robust corporate social responsibility goals. We are lucky enough to receive support from a number of our corporate friends including the likes of RES, Temporis Capital, and OST Energy.
Together we can help your company deliver its corporate responsibility agenda.
“RES has been supporting Renewable World for many years. They are not only our corporate charity, we are also proud sponsors of Earth Wind & Tyre, and give matching contributions when our staff engage in sporting events for Renewable World. Once a year we are looking forward to welcoming our friends from Renewable World when they make a well attended lunchtime presentation sharing stories about their amazing work.”
– Carolina Karlström, Head of Sustainability, RES
Philanthropy and charitable giving
Ultimately, Renewable World exists to alleviate poverty in the developing world. Through the installation of renewable energy systems, rural communities are able to improve their income, education, and health, all whilst minimising the damage done to the environment.
Renewable World and the Sustainable Development Goals
We are committed to supporting the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our work and our impacts contribute towards a number of the SDGs, but out three main priorities are SDG 1 No Poverty, SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 13 Climate Action.
