The Happold Foundation, part of global engineering firm Buro Happold, granted a multi-year Organisational Development Award to Renewable World in 2019 and again in 2022, in recognition of our mutual interests in improving the built environment for people living in poverty and addressing climate change. The Foundation’s unrestricted core funding of £180,000 is helping us to innovate and develop new concepts which will transform life for the better for people living in poverty, using clean energy.
In partnership with Jersey Overseas Aid and Nepali NGO LI-BIRD, we are delivering a multi-year project focusing on conservation and livelihoods in the environmentally fragile buffer zones of Nepal’s Banke and Bardiya national parks. Through Renewable Energy Access for Livelihoods in Fragile Buffer Zones, (REALiZe) we are working alongside communities in these highly vulnerable but environmentally important areas to diversify and strengthen livelihoods while protecting and conserving this fragile region.
Unica Foundation, the corporate social responsibility wing of Unica, the Netherlands largest all-round technical services provider, has been supporting Renewable World since 2018. The Foundation’s multi-year support focuses on projects which are increasing access to clean water, powered by clean energy in Nepal. Their grant awards of circa €350,000 have enabled us to reach thousands of vulnerable people with clean water, improved health, and livelihoods.
