On Sunday 28 October 22 runners took to the streets at the London O2 Arena to Run to the Beat in aid of Renewable World. It was a crisp, sunny day and the runners shivered in their Renewable World vests at the start line. But one mile in and everyone had warmed up – it was impossible not to, with 13 stages pumping out music at every mile. The atmosphere was fantastic and London looked beautiful; I (almost) wished I was one of the runners…
It was great to have such a strong team, mainly from the energy industry, running for Renewable World. Congratulations to each of our heroes in green, particularly those who impressively completed their first half marathon in little over 1h 30mins, and one valiant runner who hadn't been able to train due to being off-shore on a boat for a month. Our heartfelt thanks for your dedication.
At the Renewable World stall we had goodie bags for our runners and got some celebratory pics; see the gallery and facebook.
Collectively the group has already raised a fantastic £6700. Well done to our current star fundraiser who alone has raised over £1000 by getting his company to match the fundraising he did from colleagues and friends – we like your style. These vital funds will help bring renewable energy services to some of the poorest and most vulnerable communities in the developing world.
It was a truly memorable day. Can we start looking forward to Run to the Beat 2013 already?! If you can’t wait that long and would like to take part in a Renewable World Challenge event, we still have a few places left in the Brighton Marathon in April… Email us to secure your place.
