International Day of Clean Energy

January 24, 2025

The 26th January has been declared by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day of Clean Energy.

This day serves as a call to raise awareness and inspire action towards a just and inclusive transition to clean energy, benefiting both people and the planet.

For us at Renewable World, this day holds great significance, as it provides an opportunity to reflect on our ongoing efforts to empower marginalised communities living in Kenya and Nepal by improving their access to clean energy and transforming their lives.

To celebrate this important occasion, we’d like to highlight some key achievements and share our Annual Report for 2023/24, which showcases the life-changing impact our work continues to have on the communities we serve.

In Sadhane Nepal, our REALIZE project has powered a step change in local livelihoods. With the introduction of our Solar Multi Usage Systems in the community, and a solar powered dryer and mill, farmers can now grow and preserve full harvest, store it for longer, mill their products cheaply and sell only when the market price is high, increasing sustainable income for Sadhane and it’s neighbouring communities.
To remain effective, medicines and vaccines must be stored at the correct temperatures. Without a reliable source of electricity, the refrigeration of medicines and vaccines becomes impossible, rendering them ineffective and placing lives at risk. At the Olorika health facility in Kenya, nurse Anthony dispenses medicine at the facility’s pharmacy room, with solar power arriving through our E4H2 project in Kajiado, soon this facility and six more like it will have a reliable source of clean electricity around the clock.

Our success is driven by the communities we collaborate with, our local partners, our exceptional staff, and the individuals, government bodies, foundations, and companies who generously fund our initiatives – we are so grateful for their support.

You can continue to read all about our impact in 2023-2024 in our Annual Report and Accounts below.
