On July 23, 2025, Renewable World, in partnership with Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) and Sundar Nepal Sanstha (BNA), officially launched REALIZE II through a kick-off workshop in Surkhet, Nepal.
Funded by Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA), the four-year project (July 2025 – June 2029) aims to benefit over 35,000 people in the northern buffer zone of Bardiya National Park specifically in Barahatal Rural Municipality and Bheriganga Municipality.
REALIZE II builds on the learnings of Phase I and deepens the use of the 4P Approach – Park, Palika, People Partnership to:
– Enhance conservation
– Expand clean energy-powered livelihoods and market system development
– Reduce human wildlife conflict
– Improve governance and inclusion
– Promote youth and women led climate and conservation action
– Institutionalize and scale up 4P model and accelerate adoption of best practices across Nepal’s 11 other National Parks and their buffer zones
The launch gathered key stakeholders: local government leaders, park authorities, buffer zone representatives, and provincial actors demonstrating strong collective commitment to inclusive, resilient development and conservation.
We’ll keep you posted as this inspiring project continues to unfold.
